Video of The Day: Dayglow
There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.
We all need little moments of joy these days. Dayglow's "Can I Call You Tonight?" is a surefire smile-maker, its lovelorn effervescence and dreamy bop a perfect vessel for Sloan Struble's softly hesitant vocals. There are pangs of bittersweet insecurity at play among the frolicsome fuzz, which makes the song endearingly relatable.
The video for the song is just as delightful, a Mario-esque (or Duck Game, according to Sloan), with Struble in video game form trying to save his beloved from...a nefarious bear. No spoilers here, check out the video to see if Struble can save the day.
You can find "Can I Call You Tonight?" on the excellent 2019 record Fuzzybrain, one of my favorite records of the year.
