Video of The Day: Peel Dream Magazine

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

Since it's the day before Valentine's Day, let me use that theme to tell you how fantastic Peel Dream Magazine's "Pill" is. If you're at all interested in the shoegaze/kraut/noise varietals of modern music, hearing "Pill" is like getting dozens upon dozens of deliveries of blood red roses, like having your never-going-to-happen celebrity infatuation feed you the fanciest chocolate hearts while you listen to hologram Lord Byron recite you love poems.

Ok, perhaps that's overly effusive, but the sentiment is well-deserved. "Pill" has a melted butter warmth, hints of MBV vocal perfection, king bee buzzed guitars, and a glorious golden drone. I missed the memo on the PDM 2018 release, but I'm happy to get a second chance at jumping on the bandwagon. With song's like "Pill" at their disposal, I've got high hopes for Peel Dream Magazine's Agitprop Alterna, due out in April.

As for the video, well, it carries its own throwback flair. Straddling the line between early MTV 120 Minutes-style clips and grainy public access programs, the video incorporates a sharp color palette and lively effects to give it sass.

In summary, I love this. And I hope you will love this.
