Video of The Day: Talkboy

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

I can't pretend "Last Christmas" isn't my very favorite of holiday ditties, but "White Christmas" is not that far behind the Wham! song. Talkboy, the Leeds outfit that's had a pretty good year, closes out their 2019 with their fantastic version of the timeless tune. Smoky, smoldering girl-boy vocals, plenty of fireside fuzz, and a full-bodied flair for the festive make Talkboy's take on "White Christmas" pretty irresistible.

The video takes the edge off with an adorable premise of tracking down Santa, that sees the band's Katie and Tim channeling Mulder and Scully whilst traipsing through Leeds on the hunt for a certain jolly bearded man in the red suit. The X-Files/police drama spoof is the lighthearted comic relief that this particular holiday can call for, and they've done it very well indeed. A treat for the naughty and nice.
