Video of The Day: Editors

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

There's bound to be all sorts of exciting announcements in the few weeks left before this year's Record Store Day. One such announcement comes from Editors, who today proclaimed that they'll be releasing a little something called The Blanck Mass Sessions, an alternate version of the band's glorious 2018 release Violence. The 8-song album includes original productions as done by producer Blanck Mass, as well as the gorgeous new song "Barricades," which also happens to have a splendid new video to go along with it.

The song's structured, almost mechanized backbeat was the jumping off point for the video; the captivating scenes of various intricate machinery working seamlessly were created by Hi-Sim Studios. By the time the song powers to the death, the machines have come undone - a perfect visual for the fragile nature of relationships.

The Blanck Mass Sessions will be a limited run on colored vinyl for Record Store Day, with a wider release due May 3.
