Good Cover Version: OHMME Does B-52s

Pulp gave the world the song "Bad Cover Version." But seeing as I'm a sonic optimist, I'm of the belief that there's more likely than not more good cover versions floating around than bad ones. Good Cover Version celebrates the good, and leaves all that bad and ugly stuff alone.

Cindy Wilson's vocal turn in the B-52s classic "Give Me Back My Man" has to be one of my favorite performances of all-time. No question. Wilson's ability to go from soft, kittenish tones to near pleading is nothing short of magnificent. And the song is catchy as hell, as you'd expect from those wonderful Georgia oddballs.

Chicago duo OHMME recently did their own version of the song, channeling the powerhouse Wilson vocals into their own raw, electric live party starter. Sima and Macie love the song, and it shows in their faces as they offer up a fitting tribute to Cindy and her B-52s cohorts.
