Video of The Day: Z Berg and Ryan Ross
There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.
Christmas can be a challenging time emotionally, and this duet from Z Berg and Ryan Ross really taps into that fragility with "The Bad List." Their devastating vocal partnership hits home with the acute pain of post-love and the difficulty that comes with trying to move on, especially around this particular holiday. With the dramatic sweeps of piano and those glorious vocals, it's a perfect Xmas wallower.
The video for the song is gorgeous, though it does get a bit necrophiliastic. It's a thought-provoking metaphor, though, as we've all felt grief from the end of relationships that have felt as much like death as they do a breakup. Things feel very open-ended as Ross walks off into the Southern California sunset, though, moving on as we all eventually must.
