Video Of The Day: The Essex Green

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video Of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

The Essex Green has lost none of its charm over the years. The band's urban pastoral yarns are, on the surface, lighthearted and whimsical, but with so much substance to go along with their enchanting style. "Don't Leave It In Our Hands," from recent release Hardly Electronic, is yet another example of their wonderfulness, with boy-girl vocals bemoaning modern life. As with most Essex Green songs, the end result is sublimely addictive.

The song's video seems to be adopting an (understandable) anti-phone stance. Cinematic and heavy, the weight of the song's lyrics is visually represented splendidly in this engaging clip, and the ending feels especially thoughtful.
