Taking inspiration from the perfect simplicity of 1960s pop, Norwegian twosome Alfred Hall creates a silken, incredibly listenable piece of dreaminess in "Quite Some Time." It's like "Happy Together" given a gorgeously glacial and glossy Scandinavian update, and I'm pretty into it.



There's something about Chris Crofton's "UFO Hunters" that feels like a lost 1970s classic. Crofton's voice rasps just so, the unspoken sigh of a weary troubadour ever-present. The dusty guitar (some of which happens to be played by Jim James) adds to the emotional mileage, creating times and places that hover between now and then (whenever then happens to be). This former stand-up comedian sounds right at home wearing his heart on his sleeve and singing lovelorn songs like this one.



Fuzzed-up and emotionally exposed, "Wayne" isn't your typical love song. And I suspect Rich Girls is quite happy with that. Led by Luisa Black's siren song vocals and a swirl of sound that falls somewhere between the dancefloor and the opium den, this particular Rich Girls concoction is a heady, intriguing listen.
