Newsworthy: 4/21/18

Have you heard the word? Here's a few items of interest you may want to know about.

Y'all, The Essex Green is back! This is seriously some of the best news I've heard all week, and I am unspeakably happy about it.

If you're not familiar, The Essex Green was one of my favorite bands of the Naughties and they wrote some of my favorite songs of the Naughties, and I'm so excited about this news that this entire post is devoted to those pastoral pop darlings. And there's quite a bit to talk about!

First and foremost, of course, is just the initial happiness about the trio is back together and making music. They've recorded a new record, Hardly Electronic, which will be released June 29th on Merge (thanks Merge!). The spritely "Sloane Ranger" comes from said record, and proves the band hasn't lost a step. But as delightful as this news is, there's still more goodness to talk about.

Late summer will see The Essex Green return to the road to tour their latest efforts (and presumably to revisit some old classics, as well). Dates are below. Y'all know what I'll be doing on August 7th!
