Video of The Day: Shopping

There's a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

I have a deep personal hatred of television talent shows in the vein of American Idol or America's Got Talent or whatever else inane someone in a suit decides is a good idea to appeal to the masses.

Naturally, then, I'm quite fond of the new Shopping video for their spiky, sneeringly danceable noise. The trio stars as the panel of judges, bored yet easily amused, who finally find their star in non-human form. It's a fun visual lampooning of a completely ridiculous television institution.

Also, the song is just plain killer, and happily the band's new Edwyn Collins-produced record The Official Body will be out imminently on FatCat.
