Newsworthy: 10/27/17

Have you heard the word? Here's a few items of interest you may want to know about.

Lots of festival and tour-related news out recently, so this installment of the news is all live, all the time.

I'd rate Nada Surf's impeccable 2002/2003 (UK/US) release Let Go as one of my all-time favorite records without question (and that's despite some pretty bad associated memories thanks to a trip to a certain city in a former Soviet Bloc country). To celebrate the record turning 15, the band is doing a brief tour during which they will play this opus in its entirety (and will play another set after that to boot). I can't make the dates, as I'll be out of town/country, but if you're able, I strongly suggest you go. This record was, and still is, many shades of emotional, breathtaking magic.

For our UK and Irish friends, get ready for some Kiwi comedy antics coming your way in early spring. Flight of The Conchords just announced a run of dates, and having seen them in person I can assure you wholeheartedly that you will laugh until tears find themselves running down your cheeks. Go see for yourself, won't you?

And finally, for my fellow psych enthusiasts, great news out of Austin: Levitation is back in 2018! Mark your calendars for April 26-29, as that's when the rested and rejuvenated festival will be taking over Austin and bringing all manner of wonderful, wild weirdness to lovers of all things psych rock. Lineup announcements will start happening soon, so be sure you keep an eye on the fest's official media for all the latest news.
