Sounds of Secret Stages 2017 #6: Della Ray

Alabama in August is a pretty hot place, and it's not just because of the heat (and the humidity). Secret Stages has been keeping things hot in Birmingham for years, staying true to their mission of showcasing musical talent from across the South (and beyond). This year is no different. If you're free August 4-5, you might just take a jaunt down to Bham to check out this Dixie dandy.

As y'all know, I've got a soft spot for Tuscaloosa. Della Ray came about in Tuscaloosa, and as I listen to them I can picture certain things about that city along the Black Warrior River, places that don't exist anymore and people who have long since left town. There's a certain nostalgia to the music of this duo, a certain bittersweetness that feels particularly poignant. Give their folk jangle a listen and feel it for yourself.
