It's sweltering out there, which can only mean it's getting to be about time for the 2016 installment of Alabama's awesome little music festival, Secret Stages. In a mere few days, a bunch of great local/regional/further afield bands will descend on Birmingham for what promises to be a heck of a good time. (Once again) I won't be there, dangit, but here's who I think is really worth checking out from the excellent lineup. Ah, the sweet sound of dissatisfaction. Little Big Bangs, of the Show Me State, is showing me all sorts of wonderful things. Abrasive, bratty punk with a serious snarl, arty tendencies, and an undercurrent of "fuck off" emanates from their songs, along with a perfect ratio of grit to angst. Their noise is definitely worth checking out. As in right now.
