Crossing The Pond: Post War Glamour Girls
From Leeds comes Post War Glamour Girls, a foursome that's these days fond of creating expanses of sinewy, smoky murk fraught with tension and pressure. Or, that's the impression one gets after having a listen to this big bad wolf of a song.
Clocking in over eight minutes, "Cannonball Villages" elicits a sense of gloom, teeth-bared menace nibbling at the corners and finally, here and there, getting a bit of release. Plucked from the record entitled Feeling Strange, the band's second, "Cannonball Villages" is all things stormy and noisy and wonderful.
