Good Cover Version: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart does James

Pulp gave the world the song "Bad Cover Version." But seeing as I'm a sonic optimist, I'm of the belief that there's more likely than not more good cover versions floating around than bad ones. Good Cover Version celebrates the good, and leaves all that bad and ugly stuff alone.

When I was a younger lass, "Laid" by James was on the radio all the time. Or so it felt. And I was more than ok with that, because, let's face it, the song rules. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. FL favorites The Pains of Being Pure at Heart just unleashed a cover of the classic 90s staple, giving it a chilly, delicious pop treatment that retains the original groove, all while substituting Tim Booth's trademark coos with guest lady vocalist Jen Goma (A Sunny Day in Glasgow). It's totally delightful and totally worth many, many listens.
