Sounds Of Secret Stages 2014 #10: Body of Light

Y'all know I've got all sorts of love for Sweet Home Alabama, and if there was any way I could be in Birmingham this weekend I would be. You see, Secret Stages is this weekend! If you're not familiar, it's a little festival devoted to the best of new (primarily) Southern music, and I'm just dying to go check it out. So, since I can't be there, here's a few bands I'd definitely be making time for.

Sure, it's a little bit of a music journalist conceit to say it, but dang it I'm not all about bands that hail from cities with a particular musical reputation that don't sound at all like the music you'd expect out of said city with said particular musical reputation. Thus, I'm kinda into Nashville's Body of Light collective. There's not a twang in sight, nay, instead they get all sorts of synthy and sampley and wacky. It's a little bit out there, their sound, but in a lovely, this-actually-makes-sense kind of way. I'd love to see how they pull things together live.
