Fuzzy Logic @ STPP Fest - The Snowy Owls
It's almost here, friends! The Fall installment of the STPP Fest is nigh upon us, and it's about time to get to know the musicians that are part of the showcase yours truly has put together. Come spend your weekend at The Islander with us!
BIO: The Snowy Owls began in 2007 as the meandering solo project of multi-instrumentalist Matt Klimas (Low Branches). In 2011 the addition of bassist Allen Bergendahl and drummer Brandon Martin (Lubec) saw the band take shape as a full-fledged rock/shoegaze outfit. In the tradition of noise-poppers like Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, and My Bloody Valentine, Snowy Owls blend daydreaming melodies over washes of fuzzed out guitar and a punchy rhythm section. The simple lines and hushed vocals are deceptively infectious, a pop-beast lurking in the shadows. They self-released the single “Yr Eyes” in July 2011 and will be part of a split 10" with White Laces on Harding Street Assembly Lab Fall 2011.
