Video of The Day: Seazoo

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

It's one of life's great questions: is the glass half-full or half-empty? Seazoo's "The Pleasure" is the kind of song that offers a third alternative - enjoy what's in the glass and fill it right back up.

Frontfella Ben Trow describes the song as being "about taking time to enjoy small moments that make you happy – I think it’s really important right now as the world goes completely bonkers! For me it’s my love for writing and recording music, something that I never take for granted; but the tune can be about anything really.”

"The Pleasure" is, well, a pleasure to listen to, a jaunty, good-time nugget that runneth over with effortlessly cheeky charm. The song bops along, frolicsome and vibrant as you like, bits of fuzz creeping in to add a bit of sass to these poppy shenanigans. With "The Pleasure," this Welsh outfit has unleashed a real Bobby Dazzler, a diamond of a song to get thy frown turned upside down.

And I'm sorry (not sorry), but the song's video is also a pleasure. It's a look at the dizzying life of a small town bowls/lawn bowls player, from workouts by the sea to charming the locals to picking up the, um, girls...and of course, the action of the bowling itself. Our hero, of course, being The Pleasure. It's a quirky, splendidly silly clip, and it couldn't be any more perfect for the song.

Seazoo's new album, JOY, is due for release in April, and I'm pretty excited to hear it.
