Video of The Day: Secret Knives

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

The very end/very beginning of a year can feel more than a little unsettled as one reconciles opposite ends of various spectrums, such as things left undone from one year with things to be done in another. There's more than a little restlessness in this skittish, frantic bit of mercury from Secret Knives. "Simple Bliss" is far from simple, Ash Smith tinkering with sonic textures and sentiments, the pliable notes of the song bending to his will (or maybe it's the other way around). Either way, "Simple Bliss" is a feast for the ears, and sounds like a fitting song to see out one decade and usher in another decade to.

For visuals, well, there's a lot/not a lot going on. Rather, there's a lot going on but looks deceptively like there's not as much going on as there is. Simple bliss, eh? This colorful firecracker is a fitting clip for the kerfuffle that the volatile song kicks up, and I strongly suggest checking it out before watching the ball drop this evening.
