Video of The Day: Dead Horse One
There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.
Dead Horse One's third LP, The West Is The Best, is described by lead singer/songwriter Olivier Debard as being "a collection of thwarted love songs in the spirit of Sparklehorse and other such 90s bands." I am very much in favor of that description, and it fits rather well. Single "Falling" has a sense of longing and endings left open-ended, a perfect sort of gloom. The song's got a muscular, vital heartbeat helping propel it through the darkness.
The song's video, which starts off with a warning to those with light-sensitivity issues, is a dizzying, disorienting ride through a barrage of illustration, a serious headtrip that's hard to look away from.
