Video of The Day: Dayglow

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

Dayglow's Sloan Struble is a man on a mission. “For as long as I’ve made music, it’s been my goal to use it to help people feel better, and hopefully treat each other better,” says the young Austin-based singer/songwriter. With songs like the deceptively effervescent "Listerine," his mission is clear. Struble isn't the first to turn life's pain into great listening, and he won't be the last, but there's something disarmingly sweet about Dayglow's music that makes it feel instantly magical.

The dynamic, irresistible "Listerine" has, along with "Nicknames," found its way onto a re-imagined version of Dayglow's 2018 record Fuzzybrain, both songs sounding right at home among Struble's previously released songs.

For the song's video, Struble stands in the middle of a deserted, desert blacktop, looking contemplative for a minute before he starts to dance on down the road. As the camera leads Struble down the road, he dances with abandon, the sky dreamily pastel above the hills behind him. The video captures a feeling of emotional release beautifully. And who hasn't wanted to find an lonely road and break out some cathartic dance moves?
