Video of The Day: Avalanche Party
There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.
Avalanche Party's delirious "Rebel Forever" was made for gloomy, gray days (much like this one). Calling to mind the dark decadence that lent itself to the Berlin of Iggy and David, the song's razorblade riffs and ever-so unhinged vocals lend an elegant, somewhat controlled violence to the band's sound.
The video zeroes in on the song's frantic energy, full of fever dream fantasies and vertigo-inducing visuals (and the added bonus of a cat cameo).
The North Yorkshire band, deemed "the most exciting rock & roll band in the UK right now," by BBC 1, flies to NYC for a show later this month. Here's hoping they'll soon be back for a more extensive trek around the US.
