Video of The Day: B Boys

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

The jittery, scuzzed-up impatience of "Instant Pace" takes more than a little inspiration from the "paralysis" of today's cellphone over-share, constantly consuming culture. For Brandon Avalos of B Boys, the song is a "reminder to myself to take a step back from the speed of our daily life." I have to say, that's a sentiment a whole lot of us should probably get behind.

The song's theme is picked up in the video, the overstimulation of a constant barrage of photos, collages, and paint effects flying by in a colorful onslaught. "How fast it all seems now," muse B Boys as the frenetic fretting comes to a close. Indeed.

Catch B Boys on tour right now, as well as a string of live dates later this year (September/October across the US).
