Video of The Day: Phoebe Bridgers

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

"I am sick of the chase/but I'm hungry for blood," laments Phoebe Bridgers woefully in her gorgeous "Killer." This is a song that is not destined for a happy ending, though it's such a lovely one to listen to. The delicate piano accentuates the pain of each note so perfectly, each breath heavy with certainty and finality. It's heartbreaking and so very beautiful, and it's blindingly obvious why Bridgers has been racking up critical acclaim over the past couple years.

The song's video is a desert noir moment, filmed in Joshua Tree and feels evocative of both loss and hurt. Gus Black's visuals are stunning, and well-matched with Bridger's song.
