Video of The Day: FACS

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

I was devastated when Chicago's phenomenal Disappears announced their disbanding a couple years back. But when FACS rose out of those ashes, well, all seemed right with the world. Now, former Disappears members Brian Case and Noah Leger, along with friend Alianna Kalaba, are readying for the release of their second record as FACS, Lifelike. "In Time" comes from said record. This tense coil of searing sinews has the feel of something inevitable about it, something urgent yet suspended in place. "In Time" is a dark, distorted fog of a song, and it's rather magnificent.

The video's smoke-filled noir is filled with tight angles and tricks of lights versus darks, each second enhancing the song's splendid, shadowy murk.
