Video of The Day: J Fernandez

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

"Volcanic Winter" has more than a little vintage nostalgia woven into its fabric. J Fernandez has such a deft touch, and his voice has such a gentle, enveloping warmth. On latest record Occasional Din Fernandez wanted to "write a feel-good soundtrack but with somewhat grim lyrics." On songs like this, he's succeeded and then some.

The nuanced beauty of "Volcanic Winter" has a video that's full of disparate, vintage-style clips of random moments, offering a highly appropriate, fanciful accompaniment to the loveliness of the song.
