Video Of The Day: Wooing
There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video Of The Day are a cut (or two) above.
"You could have been dear to me," delivered with playful castigation, "you could have been near to me." There's a delicious pouting petulance to the doe-eyed, fuzzed-up machinations of Wooing in "Could Have Been." The song's cooing vocals and idiosyncratic rhythms lend a hint of the unexpected, and the touchstones in this tantalizing nugget are both 60s girl group appeal along with the honey-coated drone of early 90s shoegaze.
Visually, the clip keeps up with the song's twists and turns, with bold colors and kaleidoscopic effects. It's a very winning combination, indeed.
