On The Road Again: Methyl Ethel

Well, well, well. Look who's taking their show on the road?

If new music from Methyl Ethel isn't something to be super happy about, I don't know what is. My favorite Down Under art psych makers have just released "Scream Whole," which, according to singer Jake Webb, captures "that cold sweat. That swollen throat. That sick feeling bubbling up from your guts." Indeed, but in the best possible way. The band's off-kilter, slightly uneasy slink is present and accounted for, and the song is already stuck in my head (where it'll stay for ages, just like every song on last year's excellent Everything Is Forgotten record).

To go along with the release of "Scream Whole," the Aussies are jaunting back to the US early next year for a brief run of dates. Let's just say I'm already clearing my calendar for March 30 when they roll into DC. Do yourself a solid and make sure you don't miss their tour if at all humanly possible.
