Video Of The Day: Pete International Airport
There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video Of The Day are a cut (or two) above.
Pete International Airport's Safer With The Wolves was one of my favorite records of 2017, and with good reason. Peter Holmström's passion project produced a spectacular nouveau psych opus, electronic elements side by side with Pete's decadent guitar play. There's a strong electric undercurrent running through the whole album, and an unpredictability, too, thanks in no small part to some impressive guest stars; In the case of "Western Shouting," the instantly recognizable vocals of Alex Maas (The Black Angels).
The song's video is pure black and white, a rush of tight shots of Pete and Alex and the PIA logo (a ghoulishly grinning skull with plane wing appendages). It's all perfectly hypnotic, and worth a whole lot of views.
