Video Of The Day: Lord Huron

There's a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

Lord Huron's video for "When The Night Is Over," from latest record Vide Noir, has the look of a late night/early morning cable access channel special. That's no accident, as it was filmed as part of the band's very own public access special that was broadcast in various markets around the US.

"When The Night Is Over" feels like a song built for late nights, those wee small hours on the precipice of dawn, when both anything seems possible and regret feels more acute. Lush and full of longing, this song positively smolders. The video, with its slightly camp seriousness, takes a little of the edge off all of the taut, urgent intensity.
