Video of The Day: Sarah Mary Chadwick

There's a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

In another life, Sarah Mary Chadwick could be found at the helm of a grunge band (Batrider). Things change, and Chadwick recently emerged as a lone star, releasing Rice Is Nice in 2016 and readying for a May release for her latest LP endeavor, Sugar Still Melts In The Rain.

The title track from said record showcases Chadwick's unique vocal style, a burnished copper voice with unexpected flashes of Bjork's charming off-kilter icicles accenting a knowing, wry honesty. Chadwick sings tenderly but unapologetically, singing as one who's been there and done that and knows that inevitably, things don't always go according to plan.

The song's video is effectively simple, just Chadwick against backdrops of red or blue-toned lights, focus in varying degrees of clarity. This is quite a gem, y'all.
