Video of The Day (Premiere Edition): Alien Lizard

There's a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

"Your life is cinema. Every sensation a programmed impulse. Every thought a rabid pixelation of the last. In the moments between, you have witnessed the final evolution of consciousness We are now the architects of the universe. We are now the destroyers of worlds. Rise from the illusion or drift gently into the most serene dreams the womb of modernity has to offer." This is the way the mysterious Alien Lizard announces themselves to the world.

"Parallel Parks," premiering right here and right now, is the first single from the debut Alien Lizard album Pure Kafka. The video makes use of vintage public domain footage ranging from outer space, natural disasters, and manmade destruction, gradually escalating into nuclear territory before ending up the way it began. As for the song itself, consider it pre-apocalyptic acid psych folk, with plenty of fuzz and a noisy goodbye as it winds down. The trippy tranquility of the song feels like it's hiding something, or perhaps withholding some kind of vital information that it can't share. At least, not yet. Let's see what else Alien Lizard has to say when they release more of Pure Kafka.
