Video of The Day: Alexis Taylor

There's a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

Fans of Hot Chip should recognize the name Alexis Taylor, Taylor serving as half of the excellent electro outfit's vocal backbone.

"Beautiful Thing" comes from Taylor's forthcoming record with that very name, scheduled for release in April. Brooding and contemplative, the silken glitches of "Beautiful Thing" really hit full stride with Taylor's tinkling of the ivories, which come in about halfway through.

Seeing as it's been gray and foggy here this weekend, I felt an immediate kinship with this particular video. The countryside scenes fit the mood of the song perfectly, and it's entirely possible that listening to this song may lead to spontaneous fits of dancing, as happens in the video. And the teasing sort-of cliffhanger ending leaves room for another chapter in this particular video sequence, and don't we all love a good cliffhanger?
