Video of The Day: BEAK

There's a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

For all the oh my gosh my golly, mistletoe, and holly, there's a decidedly dark side to Christmas. It's a side that, even before Thanksgiving, starts pushing unrelenting consumerism and spending in the name of the holiday season, and it's a side that BEAK focuses on in their cynical "Merry Xmas (Face The Future)," a sinister sneer of a song. The video doesn't shy away from lambasting Christmas imagery. It's even better than a neighborhood full of the tackiest lights you could imagine, though I'm never going to be able to unsee the dancing world leaders. A must-watch, especially if you find yourself a bit too caught up in the Christmastime machine and need something to help you snap out of it.

Proceeds from the sale of the single go to benefit the National Elf Service and The Mental Elf, an act which is a lot more in keeping with the true holiday spirit than buying people crap they don't need.
