Video of The Day: Six by Seven
There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video Of The Day are a cut (or two) above.
It's been roughly five years since I last gushed a little bit about Six by Seven, which I'd say makes it about time to gush a little bit more about Six by Seven. As much as I appreciate the way Six by Seven could create sonic havoc for upwards of seven minutes at a time, their more single-friendly "Candlelight" holds quite a special place in my heart. It's got an urgency to it, a breathless expectancy. Black and white and a rush of slightly awkwardly angled closeups, the video for this impeccable nugget picks up on the underlying impatient jitters of the song and amplifies them. And yes, "open your eyes/close the door/take what's yours" is still one of my favorite lyrics around.
