Sounds of Hopscotch 2017 #3: Kayo Dot
It's time once again to cast a longing glance down to Raleigh and the delectable Hopscotch. In my humble opinion, this is one of the best festivals around, and since 2010 it's been doing nothing but get bigger and better every year. Sadly, I won't be there this year, but I've pored over the lineup and have a handful of picks that I think you should pay close attention to.
Kayo Dot, a self-proclaimed "avant-goth, progressive experimental doom, abstract electroacoustic black modern compositional metallic band," certainly likes to keep things interesting. This Brooklyn outfit, the brainchild of Toby Driver, creates atmospheric, shape-shifting epics, each one a study in various shades of darkness and experimentation. Doubtless a fascinating live experience.
Kayo Dot plays the CAM at 9:30 PM on 9/7.
