Sounds of Hopscotch 2017 #13: King Woman

It's time once again to cast a longing glance down to Raleigh and the delectable Hopscotch. In my humble opinion, this is one of the best festivals around, and since 2010 it's been doing nothing but get bigger and better every year. Sadly, I won't be there this year, but I've pored over the lineup and have a handful of picks that I think you should pay close attention to.

Sometimes we all need a little bit of a musical maelstrom to cure what ails us. Might I suggest San Francisco's King Woman for your next fix? Their sludgy doom psych is brutal and bewitching, the perfect sound in which to turn the world off and let the tempest take over.

King Woman plays the Pour House at 10:00 PM on 9/8.
