Good Cover Version: Placebo Does Kate Bush

Pulp gave the world the song "Bad Cover Version." But seeing as I'm a sonic optimist, I'm of the belief that there's more likely than not more good cover versions floating around than bad ones. Good Cover Version celebrates the good, and leaves all that bad and ugly stuff alone.

I've been a Placebo fan for quite a long time, but have somehow only just stumbled across this particular Kate Bush cover of theirs. I think this is probably one of my favorite vocal performances from mouthpiece Brian Molko, his typically acerbic, snarling vocals take a more serious and almost plaintive tone here, giving the song weight and emotional heft. The Placebo rendering of "Running Up That Hill" strikes all kinds of chords for me, all told it's quite a masterful interpretation of a pretty great song.
