Sounds of Secret Stages 2017 #12: River Kittens

Alabama in August is a pretty hot place, and it's not just because of the heat (and the humidity). Secret Stages has been keeping things hot in Birmingham for years, staying true to their mission of showcasing musical talent from across the South (and beyond). This year is no different. If you're free August 4-5, you might just take a jaunt down to Bham to check out this Dixie dandy.

Feisty as all get out, the River Kittens of St. Louis and their self-proclaimed "raunch folk"/"smartass bluegrass" are tough to resist. The three core ladies harmonize, sass, and coo their way through their songs, and while there's no doubt these kittens have claws, they'll give you a nod and a wink while they scratch. "If you don't want no trouble/don't you mess around with me," indeed.
