Good Cover Version: The Saint James Society does Bauhaus

Pulp gave the world the song "Bad Cover Version." But seeing as I'm a sonic optimist, I'm of the belief that there's more likely than not more good cover versions floating around than bad ones. Good Cover Version celebrates the good, and leaves all that bad and ugly stuff alone.

It's not a surprise that The Saint James Society chose to cover a Bauhaus song for their new covers EP. After all, the LA darkwavers inhabit the same kinds of sonic shadows. The Saint James Society rendition of "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything" builds upon the ghosts of the original, adding an impatient rush to the song, as though they just couldn't wait. It's deliciously dark, perfect for the latest of late, restless nights.
