Good Cover Version: Slothrust Does Louis Armstrong

Pulp gave the world the song "Bad Cover Version." But seeing as I'm a sonic optimist, I'm of the belief that there's more likely than not more good cover versions floating around than bad ones. Good Cover Version celebrates the good, and leaves all that bad and ugly stuff alone.

I think we can all agree that Louis Armstrong doing "What a Wonderful World" is pretty timeless. But I'm pretty into this interpretation by Brooklyn's Slothrust. Recorded live at Dangerbird, the trio's version of the classic standard has a really wonderful vintage vibe, a nod to the band's love of jazz and the blues. The golden guitar is particularly dynamite. Overall, I find it to be a mighty fine tribute to the giant of jazz.
