Video of the Day: The Verve

There’s a bunch of videos out there. Some of them are good. Some of them are a cut above. I like to think my picks for Video Of The Day are a cut (or two) above.

I'm thankful for music. I'm thankful that I love music, and get to write about the music I love. And I'm thankful that you enjoy reading what I have to say about music. Of all the music I'm thankful for, it must be said that The Verve ranks right up there at the top of my "thank the lord this band exists" list. So no better to choose a video from on this Thanksgiving holiday.

"Bittersweet Symphony" wowed me when I first saw it, and it still gets me. Richard Ashcroft, the fallen cherub menace, glowering and gorgeous, deathly pale and all arms and legs, prowling down a London street wreaking all sorts of person-to-person havoc. Nary a flinch in sight. It's also the song that got them in trouble with a rather wealthy band (shame). This will always be one of my favorite Verve songs, and videos. And I'm incredibly thankful. Happy Thanksgiving one and all.
