Good Cover Version: Guards Does Beck
Pulp gave the world the song "Bad Cover Version." But seeing as I'm a sonic optimist, I'm of the belief that there's more likely than not more good cover versions floating around than bad ones. Good Cover Version celebrates the good, and leaves all that bad and ugly stuff alone.
It's been a regretfully long while since I've loved up on Guards, so I'm glad to have this opportunity to gush a little bit. The band has just released a cover of that slightly spazzed out 90s staple from Beck, "Devil's Haircut," giving it a dip in a slowed down, psychedelic fuzz vibe. The dreamy Richie James Follin spins yarns in a slightly less animated manner than usual, working in favor of this technicolor dream cover. Dig it, y'all.
