Sounds Of Hopscotch 2013 #25: Spiritualized

Hard as it may be to believe, it's once again time for Hopscotch. One of my favorite festival happenings, Hopscotch is a mere hop, skip, and a jump or two from the DC metro in lovely Raleigh, North Carolina. For the past few years they've been reeling in some seriously impressive lineups, and this year looks to be no different. Thanks to scheduling conflicts, I won't be heading down for this year's sonic extravaganza, but (not at all surprisingly) I've got recommendations on who to check out if you're heading to the fest.

I've been listening to this next band for about fifteen years, and over the past thirteen years or so, I've been lucky enough to see Spiritualized live in three time zones and a wide variety of venues. I've never been disappointed. Jason Pierce is a legend in my eyes, both for his time in Spacemen 3 as well as the ethereal, transcendent beauty that is the Spiritualized canon. Always light, with Spiritualized, even amongst the darkest of days. A band everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.
