Free For All: Gringo Star
Times
are tough out there, and for many of us buying music has become quite an
indulgence (albeit a necessary one). Happily, there are some lovely
musician folk out there that have offered up some fruits of their labors
to the masses, free of charge. Free For All celebrates these wonderful
people, and you, dear reader types.
What says May Day quite like a free song? Not a dang thing, that's what (well, except for maybe closing your bank account, but that's entirely less fun than what I'm about to bring to your attention). I just had to let y'all know that my dear, darling Atlanta boys Gringo Star were offering up a track from their (crazy awesome) recent release Count Yer Lucky Stars as a free (yes, free) download.
The song in question, "You Want It," is what you can expect from many a Gringo Star jam - that being taut, 60s-esque harmonizing and tight Kinksy instrumentation (done up Dirty South style, of course), a Texas-sized shimmy, and an overall sense of gleeful abandon. If this one doesn't get you dancin,' y'all, check your dang pulse, because I just don't know what will.
