Free For All: Friday The 13th Edition

Times are tough out there, and for many of us buying music has become quite an indulgence (albeit a necessary one). Happily, there are some lovely musician folk out there that have offered up some fruits of their labors to the masses, free of charge. Free For All celebrates these wonderful people, and you, dear reader types.

If there were more hours in the day, friends, I would spend a great deal of those hours poring over the voluminous songs to be found in the amazing Free Music Archive. Upon surfing over there this evening, I came across their ridiculously delightful mix in honor of Friday the 13th. For those of you that don't know, Friday the 13th can be traced back to the Olden Days (that's a long time ago, friends), when the King of France decided to round up as many Knights Templar as he could find and arrest them. Many were later killed. And that's the history lesson for today. These days, we tend to associate the 13th more with crazy dudes in stripey sweaters and/or hockey masks, and a good deal of the songs on this mix are in homage to that very sentiment. So download to your heart's content. Lo-fi, dissonant, and more than a little out there, these are the perfect songs to step on cracks to, walk under ladders to, or play with black cats to.
