Through A Lens Fuzzily #6: Sneaker Pimpin in Austin
As many of you know, it's CMJ this week. As many of you know, much to my chagrin I am (once again) not in New York to partake in CMJ. I am, you might say, displeased. I'm channeling my angst about this in a variety of ways, from working hard at the office (which isn't hard to do, because there's always plenty to do) to daydreaming about one of my all-time favorite festival experiences, SXSW 2009.
That there festival was definitely what you might call a trial by fire, but damned if it wasn't heaps of fun. Being surrounded by music in a city that loves its music was a really special experience. Naturally, I'm hoping to get back down to Austin next year. I shot this photo while bestie Laura and I were enjoying our last day in Austin, wandering around SoCo and doing some great vintage shopping. It takes me to a happy place, thinking about that week.
Also putting me in a happy place is the song "Kids," by former Sneaker Pimp Kelli Ali. I haven't kept up with Kelli in a long while, but I wanted to share this with y'all. It's both a departure from the Sneaker Pimps and yet owes a lot to them at the same time. I hope it'll get you where you need to be.
